Clerodendron madness

My clerodendron quadriloculare is in full bloom at this time. Even though we are now going through a severe drought they have still mustered up enough energy to bloom. I am hoping that the gods send some rain soon or else we will be in a very serious and dangerous drought. Farmers are losing their crops and many of my plants have died.

  1. That's really scary about the lack of rain. Meanwhile, some spots are being drenched in rain, others in snow. The world is a bizarre place, sometimes. I love the cleodendron; I used to have one with blue butterfly flowers but it went to sleep and neglected to reawake.

  2. What a lovely shrub. I have this too, but it needs some TLC as it certainly does NOT look like this. Have you pruned yours? I think I need to give mine more water. I do hope and pray you get some rain soon. We went through a drought too and it wasn't nice at all.

I looked back at pictures of your place when you first bought it and you have done wonders with your place. A true tropical paradise.

  4. Your tree is blooming mad and look so very beautiful. I am having rain almost everyday. It had damaged 2 batches of my newly germinated zinnia seedlings :(

  7. Thanks for this post i learned the Scientific name of that plant. I actually am confused with Clerodendron and Clerodendrum, which is present under 2nd growth forests here and have medicinal values. Now with your post i recommend a database of herbal plants to change his Sci name entry.

  8. Oh that variety is so wonderful. My neighbor gave me a seedling and every year it turns into the prettiest foliage shrub and then every winter it freezes back just before bloom time. GRRRRR. Maybe next year it won't freeze here like in the old days. :-)

Your blooms and shrubs are just divine, dear girl. And the foliage on this one can't be beat either.

Jean....talk about strange weather...you have been snowed under the past week. I would gladly accept some of your snow LOL.

Autumn Belle....send me some of that rain too I will take it from whoever has too much LOL.

Stephanie....it is a beautiful plant and I do hope the blooms last for a while.

Lotusleaf....am surprised that you haven't seen it your parts, they grow by cuttings and roots and I have never seen the seeds or else I will send you some.

Anrea...I believe both spelling of clerodendron and clerodendrum are acceptable at least I know what you are talking about.

Meems....What a shame yours never makes it to bloom...hopefully next year it will be warmer.

Kanak....like lotusleaf I wish there were seeds so I could send you some.
