Garden Bloggers Bloom Day May 15th 2010

Welcome to Garden Bloggers Bloom Day where gardeners post photos of what is blooming in their gardens . My pink mussenda is in its glory. It was trimmed back in March and I can't believe the profusion of blooms it has on it now. To see more of what is blooming in other gardens please take a stroll over to may dreams gardens

I haven't been posting regularly because I have been preoccupied with the completion my kitchen . I am still waiting on counter tops. My supplier had sold the one I paid for and didn't want to renegotiate with me for a similar priced slab. He wanted me to buy another slab for more money. I kindly asked for a full refund and went elsewhere. I found another after agonizing over several designs. It is costing me more but I feel better than dealing with the former supplier.

  1. I'm not familiar with this plant, but what a beauty! Glad you were able to finally settle the countertop problem--your new kitchen is looking great!

  3. Hi Helen, i thought it will be my turn to call you loud to send echoes to Barbados, hehe. Those Mussaendas are also blooming luxuriantly here, as well as other colors, but we still wait for the much needed rain, it is already very very hot here especially in the cities, where cemented roads and buildings exacerbate the heat.

By the way, when are you inviting us for dinner, i know you cook well. Maybe i can also teach you a Philippine dish, hehe.

  7. Wow, Helen, that mussenda must be glorious in person... it is stunning in the photo.

I can see how your kitchen remodel has taken up so much of your attention. I do hope the counter tops are worth the wait because you have been through some troublesome times trying to get them in. I wish for a new kitchen all the time but rarely hear about 'great' remodel experiences. Maybe I should just be happy with my bedraggled kitchen. :-) Yours is looking marvelous though and makes me long for picking out new cabinets. I wish you the best ... looks like it is 95% complete.

I can imagine how much you are going to LOVE cooking in it... SOON.

  9. Helen !!!! Where are you??? I am shouting for you too.

Your musaendas are blooming profusely now and there is so much pink on the tree. You still wanna smell pandan fragrance? - Try Thai fragrance rice or grow the bread flowers - vallaris glabra. They have the same chemical component that generate this smell.

The kitchen supplies seller's behaviour is really shocking but never mind, you will get better quality and nicer tiles from another one. Good luck with your kitchen!

I hope your kitchen renovation doesn't take too long. It's already looking good. Will be a pleasure to cook in a kitchen like that!
