The pantry cupboard panels are made from galvanized steel panels I salvaged from a dumpster. I punched the pattern with a nail and hammer, then gave it an acid wash to strip the finish and sprayed it a copper like colour.
Okay folks, I have finally posted the kitchen photos. Some things have to be tweaked, some to be redone, like the tiles on the back splash. The tiler did such an awful job that I can't live with it. I know that he won't be getting any more work from me nor any recommendations. Apart from that, I am quite pleased with the overall look.
Great job! The blue color is so cheerful!
ReplyDeleteLovely. I am impressed with the panels, I never would have thought they were painted copper, and not copper.
ReplyDeleteAs for the tile layers, I think it is a universal problem, they left me unsatisfied too with the work they did.
What a dream kitchen! I like the 'copper' panels of the cupboard.
ReplyDeleteThe galvanised steel looks like copper! Really cool. I love the overall look of your kitchen - both material and colours. They are so complimenting. Happy cooking!

The pantry cupboard is the show stealer here. I like it very much. You certainly have a creative talent. The colour combination of blue and copper brown is very matching. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! I love the copper panels. You're very creative. It looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your compliments. I am quite handy with a hammer and nail and I will write on tin punching in a later post.
ReplyDeleteHelen....I love the whole look! And your copper panels look fabulous! You're an artist! I'm looking forward to your coming post!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comforting words on my blog. I've not had the heart to check anything on the net but your words and from my other blogger friends have touched me. Thank you for being there....Helen.
You are most welcome Kanak!
ReplyDeleteHelen, you're a veritable island Martha Stewart! Those "copper" panels are so cool. Also, it's been fun following the metamorphosis of your kitchen, along with that of the (hopefully NOT endangered) Monarchs! Fran
ReplyDeleteLOVE the kitchen! Am seriously jealous of the space you have there! The pantry cupboard, so homey and that shade of blue works really well with the copper.
