Garden Blogger's Blooms Day April 2015

Abutilon
While in Miami my mother in law had two plants in her garden that blew me away. The clianthus punicerus aka Parrot's beak and the lantern shaped abutilon.  These are plants that are on my must have list.
Clianthus puniceus aka Parrot's beak

Dogwood trees

Hello and welcome to Garden Blogger's Bloom Day where gardeners around the globe post what is blooming in their gardens.
I have just returned from the USA after accompanying my sweet mother in law to Miami after spending two weeks with us in Barbados. From Miami I went on to visit some very dear friends in South Boston Virginia. I flew to Raleigh North Carolina the nearest airport to meet my friends whom I hadn't seen for nearly 12 years.  We then drove to South Boston which was an hour and a half away.
South Boston is an historic quaint town in Virginia. I noticed many trees covered in white or pink flowers. I later learned they were Dogwoods the official state tree.
To see more blooming gardens please go over to Carol at May dreams gardens.
Have a great week gardening!

  1. I may try Abutilon. When I scrolled on down, before I read further, I thought, "Wait! Dogwoods are not blooming in Miami!" -- and they're not. I trust you enjoyed your travels.

I've just been out to see if there's new growth from the root of my Caesalpinias -- some of them are sprouting. I love tropical plants even though our winters are hard on them.

  2. The Parrot's Beak is something special. That is now on my wish list as well. Love those Dogwoods.

  4. What a pretty place! I really miss the dogwood blooms--from my days in Georgia. We have your parrot beaks here in New Zealand, but, of course, they have a Maori name of Kaka (a type of bird) beak.
