I was visiting one of my clients the other day and was greeted with this magnificent display. I have these Brassavola nodosa orchids growing in baskets at home and here they seem to be thriving in trees. So guess what ? I will be transferring some of them to my trees. My orchids need some attention, many of them have outgrown their pots and am tired of re potting them so I am going to be putting them in trees. I do hope I have enough trees.
Wow!The orchids look stunning! I have also planted some wild orchids on trees. Can you tell us how you plant them on trees and what you use to make them flower so profusely?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for being shortlisted for the Botanical awards. I think you will win the award! All the best!
ReplyDeleteLotusleaf...I use coconut husk and fishing line to mount the orchid then I use brown or black electrical wire or some nails to attach it to the tree. Occasionally I will feed with miracle grow liqua feed but sometimes I don't bother at all. They seem to bloom all the same. In the baskets I occasionally use osmocote or a slow release fertilizer with some miracle grow liqua feed once in a while.
ReplyDeleteThank you and next year I hope to see you in the award finals.
It look so natural. Your client is really good at plant arrangement. It is like in the forest where orchids grows on trees. This white orchid is unique and different from those orchids in different colours. TQ for posting these photos. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWow! They look lovely, Helen.

ReplyDeleteStephanie, Urban Green Kanak and Sunita....the name of these orchids are Brassavola nodosa. They are very easy to grow and they seem to like outdoors. The can also be mounted on a rock.
