Flamboyant season

My flamboyant trees have started putting on their annual show around the garden. I have two reds on my property and one yellow I planted at the entrance to my driveway on my neighbours' land. I have planted another yellow on my property but it is still young and maybe it will flower next year. I plan to plant another two or three around the property when the rainy seasons starts. The flamboyant is also known as the Royal Poinciana, Delonix Regia, and flame of the forest. All around the island you can see flashes of red, orange and yellow along the roads, through the tree tops, in church yards and schools and hotels. It puts me in a good mood and I haven't been in one since my dental surgery last week. Today I had the stitches out so am feeling better and with all that colour in the landscape am smiling from ear to ear :-)). We had some rain last night and more is predicted.

  2. Hello Stephanie am glad that you stopped by. Yes those trees can get huge, but they are of medium size at the moment. My garden covers about 2 acres.

  3. I'm glad you feel better from your dental surgery. The flamboyants are blooming here in Grenada, too. I hope to someday see your garden. It sounds so lovely. We may be taking a trip to Barbados in Feb. next year. Will let you know if it becomes confirmed.

  5. Dear Helen,
They are marvelous trees and the colors are deeply rich and can be seen so far away... I really love them. It's interesting they have already bloomed here (or I should say, just south of us) and they are now blooming on your wonderful island which is further south.

Flowering trees or flowers of any kind can make one feel better! I'm glad those brilliantly blooming trees were just in time to help you get better from your surgery.

  6. Meems they seem to be flowering in a staggered season. Some flowered earlier in March and that was strange, some are totally covered with blooms, some partially and some are just budding. That means we will have colour probably up until August.

  7. Well you can't beat color like that from March through August! Everyone on the Island should feel better all the time. Ha!
