Garden Ramble September 2015

Annual Garden Ramble and Plant Sale takes place on Saturday Sept 26th from 10am-4 pm. Parking available at the Rubis Gas Station. Benthams House is located between the Rubis Gas Station and the St. Lucy Post Office.

Sesbania grandiflora aka Parott's beak, humming bird tree,  is blooming at the Rustic Bajan Garden. This was grown from seed sown around the middle of April.  I misidentified this plant when I first posted about it in April.  The flowers and leaves are edible as well as the young seed pods. They are used for cooking in the Philippines and Thailand. It is a green manure used as a natural nitrogen fixing fertilizer and also used for fodder. There is a white version of this plant as well. These will be on sale on Saturday.

Garden Blogger's Bloom Day September 2015

These Crinum lilies have perfumed the air in my shade house.

 Picobella petunias and impatiens

A mix of petunias, gazanias and water lilies
Pink and yellow rain lilies emerging after the heavy showers we had yesterday.

Hello and welcome to GBBD where gardeners around the globe post what is blooming in their gardens. The Rustic Bajan Garden had some real rain yesterday and the seasonal pond has filled up beautifully. I am happy and the frogs are happy. More rain is still needed to fill our reservoirs around the island.
