Wedding belles

 Last month I attended the wedding of the daughter of a close school friend in Orlando Florida.

It was an unforgettable wedding, the best I have ever been to (not that I get invited to many).

 The beautiful Bride wore a stunning gown and looked like a princess next to her handsome prince.

 The proud mom, my friend Antoinette who looked radiant and blissfully happy on this special day. We have known each other since we were 12 years old.

 The atrium setting was perfect for the reception.

 The guests included my daughter Lauren 3rd right enjoying themselves in a group dance.

Of course I had to check out the gardens in the atrium. The giant spathiphyllums were stunning, I am used to only seeing the smaller ones.

The plants were lush under controlled temperatures in the atrium.

Kalanchoes adding some ground cover colour  while the bread fruit leaf fern  (wart fern) and the philodendron cling to the rocks in the background.

Here the deep pink mandevilla is used as a ground cover.

These giant spathiphyllums were showing off their amazing blooms everywhere.

The alligators and turtles basking in the sunshine were all part of the gardens.

The beautiful heart shaped leaves of this alocasia caught my attention.

Aglaonemas, Kalanchoes, and wart fern (bread fruit leaf ) filled the sides of this path. Congratulations  to the bride and groom Stephanie and Marcus, wishing them happiness throughout their marriage.

Bloom day June 2012

 Welcome to garden blogger's  bloom day where gardeners around the world show what is blooming  in their gardens. Today I am showing off blooms in Greenville South Carolina. I am on vacation with my mother and daughter and visiting my cousin who lives in SC. I am a day late but better late than never.

Hello and welcome to garden blogger's bloom day where gardeners all over the globe post what is blooming in their gardens. It has been HOTTT and DRY  with no rain for the month so far. However this is the time of year when trees shed their leaves, and the most colourful of flowers are in bloom. My garden is full of dried leaves, the grass is brown yet the trees have fresh greenery on them. I also had some excitement a few days ago after finding a piglet in the house. This little piggy came to visit

Just discovered a piglet in the house, and I mean a real one. I was lying on the couch looking at the TV when I kept hearing some grunting and knocking noises. I thought it was one of the dogs or the wind on the shutters so I remained on the couch. I kept hearing more grunts so I decided to get up and see what was going on only to find a piglet coming up the corridor towards me heading for the TV room. Now the DQ (drama queen) in me came to the fore, I shrieked to my husband Chuck that there was a piglet in the house. Luckily the dogs were unaware of it so we shooed them out and I went back to find it. I couldn't find the piglet so I went into the back garden and around the house hoping that the dogs hadn't attacked it, I then heard a grunting in the back yard coming from the lawn mower shed. I quickly ran around and saw this pink piglet looking for an exit. I ran and opened the back gate and out he trotted. Don't know how he got into the house without being detected. He was one inquisitive piglet and I do hope he finds his way home. I hope there was only one since I hadn't checked upstairs.  

ps...A half hour later my husband shouted"he's back". I grabbed my camera and went to investigate. The cutie piglet trotted into the kitchen with much familiarity and wandered around the foyer, passed  the dog food grunting as he investigated. He passed me and continued down the corridor and exited through one of the side doors. The dogs never made a sound they just watched the piglet wondering who the heck was that?

Talk about a pig in a house!
