An Open Garden part 1

Today I visited an open garden in the parish of St. Peter organized by our local horticultural society. It is an amazing garden owned by an expat Dane who has lived on the island for many years. I vote it the most beautiful garden on the island. It covers an area of about four acres with a variety of trees, plants and orchids from around the world. The orchids are to die for! The layout is excellent, utilizing the large trees and group plantings of palms very well. This garden is every gardener's dream garden. I will be posting more, so stay tuned.

  2. Wow, that is a beautiful garden. I have never seen creative use of cacti or succulents in a Caribbean garden, including in the driest islands, so I applaud this.

  3. What a wonderful garden! Yes show more.

I just adore that blue orchid in the first picture. The colour is so deep and nice. I notice the other flowers have intense colours also. You are right, this is a beautiful garden.

I like the idea of grouping all succulent, Euphorbia Milii and cacti in one place. They all look so charming together.

I have enjoyed looking at these pics (I mean this garden!), can't wait for more pics. Meanwhile, have a pleasant week :-D

  4. That's a beautiful garden you got there. Don't you get tired walking the four acres! The Vandas are beautiful, is the blue a coerulea or rotschildiana! You should have given us a close up, lol. But those are newly planted, let's get back after a few years, that will pose them a challenge.

Have you visited my orchids yet? I am inviting you, posted few days ago.

  7. Great garden! Are you visiting all the open gardens this season? I see there is a palm garden slated for the 07th February. I would love to see some pictures if you will be visiting that one.

Hopefully, I be able to come to Barbados some time for the horticultral society show and a few open gardens.
